CULTIVATING CAMPUS PRIDE THROUGH INNOVATIVE DESIGN IN A MODERN INDUSTRIAL AESTHETIC
The capstone studio project is on the redevelopment of the Dunwoody College of Technology campus. The majority of the existing site is covered in parking, and so the main objective going into this design was to eliminate as much parking as possible, and conceal most of the required student parking. Dunwoody currently does not have on-campus student housing, so a 150 bed dormitory building was designed to house incoming freshman and current students. A fitness center was also designed to compliment the dormitory and provides new student amenities that help create a campus that is worth living at.

The Dunwoody Campus is surrounded by multiple overpasses, and so the new buildings were strategically placed on the site to help block the loud vehicle traffic.
-
Currently the majority of students stay on campus just to go to class, and then head home. By providing new amenities and site features, students will want to spend more time on campus, thus creating a stronger community.

Adding a fitness center allows for the potential for future school sports teams and clubs.
